Ozone can be used in gas scrubbers. These scrubbers are used to remove pollution and smells from gas streams. The functioning is often based on the adhesion of pollution or smells on water particles, often with a little help of chemicals. However, sometimes a bacteria carrier is used and the bacteria can do the job. In both cases, water is sprayed in the top of the gas scrubber.
Nowadays, ozone injection is used increasingly in gas scrubbers to improve its functioning. Ozone can oxidise pollution or smells directly in some cases, but it can also be used to keep the sides and carrier material in the scrubber free of deposition.
The ozone is injected in the water supply of the gas scrubber, our ozone disinfection systems were designed in part for this job. Ozone is especially effective in gas scrubbers used to remove smell or volatile organic compounds (VOC). Ozone converts VOC into CO2 by binding with the carbon atoms.
The use of ozone in gas scrubbers is relatively new but the prospects are definitely good, also thanks to the low cleaning costs and the low consumption costs of chemicals.
