Using traditional methods, the sanitation of groundwater is a time consuming and expensive process. However, ozone can be used for part of the santiation process, it\u2019s very reactive and tackles the following kinds of pollution:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hydrocarbons<\/li>\n<li>Diesel<\/li>\n<li>Volatile organic substances <\/li>\n<li>MTBE (Methyl-tert- butylether)<\/li>\n<li>Pesticides<\/li>\n<li>BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, &amp; xyleen)<\/li>\n<li>Trichloroetheen \/ Trichloroethyleen<\/li>\n<li>Chlorinated solvents<\/li>\n<li>Various other chemicals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A lot of these chemicals are found around (petro) chemical companies and petrol stations. Ozone will convert these substances into CO<sub>2<\/sub> or less harmfull chemicals and ozone itself will fall back into oxygen. This way, ozone is a cleaner and environmental friendlier method. Besides that, sanitating groundwater with ozone is relatively simple. Ozone is mixed into the groundwater under high pressure, then ozone reacts with the pollution in the water (and in the ground!).<br \/>\nThe effectiveness can be further amplified by injecting ozone and hydrogen peroxide together, the so called peroxone process. This combination of ozone and hydrogen peroxide causes the formation of OH radicals, which are very reactive and will react with the pollution very fast. However, it is important to only introduce the two to each other at the last possible moment! <\/p>\n<p>Do you want to know more?
